The Story Behind Granite Shores
Granite Shores Property Stewards grew from a lifetime of looking after the places that matter.
Get to know Shawn Blackbird, the experience he brings and the personal commitment behind the business.
Granite Shores Property Stewards started with something personal. For decades, Shawn Blackbird has been the person his own family relied on to look after their home.
When his father was no longer able to maintain the family property following an accident, Shawn stepped in. What began as helping his parents became a responsibility he continued over the years, and one he still carries today as he looks after his mother's home.
That experience gave Shawn an understanding of what it means to have someone you trust looking after your property. Whether you're getting older and finding certain jobs more difficult, helping a family member maintain their home, or simply need an extra set of hands, having someone dependable makes a difference.
Granite Shores was built around that same idea: offering homeowners practical help, honest work and the peace of mind that comes from knowing their property is in good hands.
Meet Shawn Blackbird
Founder, Granite Shores Property Stewards

Shawn has called the Annapolis Valley home his entire life. He knows the communities, the back roads, the changing seasons and the work that comes with looking after a property in this part of Nova Scotia.
His hands-on experience began nearly 40 years ago, learning carpentry from his father. Since then, he's put those skills to work building garages and decks, renovating kitchens and bathrooms, and helping keep homes in good repair. His experience includes working with RCB Contracting, along with many projects of his own.
Shawn has also spent 28 years with the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources, most of that time as a Conservation Officer and now as a Forest Technician. His work has taken him throughout the province, dealing with everything from wildfires and wildlife conflicts to situations that require quick thinking and sound judgment.
It's that combination of practical skills, local knowledge and life experience that Shawn brings to Granite Shores. He understands that every property is different and that homeowners need someone who will show up, pay attention to the details and take pride in doing the job properly.
For Shawn, it's about doing good work, treating people fairly and looking after their properties with the same care he's always given his own family's home.

Let's talk about your property.
Every home, cottage and camp is different, and so are the people who own them.
Whether you need a little help keeping up with maintenance, someone to check on your property while you're away, or dependable support looking after a family home, Shawn would be happy to talk about how Granite Shores can help.
